WELCOME TO WAY TOO TUFT UNIVERSITY!

This isn't just about rugs, it's about turning art into opportunity. I'm glad you're here, and I hope my story inspires you to explore your own creativity, learn the craft, dream big, and build something that's truly your own.

WHO'S OMARI MARTIN?

Omari Martin is a young Philanthropist , born and raised in Raleigh, NC. After graduating from Southeast Raleigh High School in 2018, he went on to attend North Carolina Central University (“Eagle Pride”). After completing three semesters and becoming known as somewhat of the “life of the party” he decided to drop out, realizing that lifestyle wasn't  apart of the vision.

In 2020, he took a job at Target in the grocery department, mainly moving pallets of water with a manual jack, what he jokingly called being the “water boy.” After a year of physical strain and long days, Omari decided it was time to work smarter and harder to change his environment.

Through side hustle podcasts and YouTube, he eventually came across tufting videos on Instagram. That moment started “The Wave”.

After coming up with the name Way Too Tuft on his lunch break, he began creating bold, custom rugs for clients while sharing the process and inspiring others to start. His passion for teaching came naturally, and making tufting more accessible and easier to understand became the mission before he ever thought about writing a book.

MY STORY

Art has always been part of my life. I was that kid always in art class sketching, painting, and creating from elementary through high school. I went to college and majored in business, but ended up dropping out in my sophomore year. Paying out of pocket got expensive, and it just didn’t feel like the right path at the time.

In 2021, I discovered tufting while working a 9-to-5 and looking for another stream on income. Who would have thought I'd find a river of money in tufting! I stayed consistent, and within eight months, I was able quit my job. Over a year later, I made over $4,000 USD. from a single client. That’s when it hit me, tufting wasn’t just a craft, it was a career move.

My Mission is to guide individuals from all backgrounds into the tufting world and use their creativity to earn real income or just create something cool they can be proud of. The Tufting handbook, and video courses were designed strictly to help you skip the guesswork and start adding to your legacy.

MY VALUES

I believe nothing in life is truly perfect, but you can get damn close when you give it your all. That’s how I approach tufting, teaching, and everything else I do. I value creativity, consistency, and staying grounded in the moment.

I’m grateful for the opportunities this craft has brought me, and even more grateful that I get to help others bring their visions to life. Turning someone’s idea into a piece of art is powerful, but teaching others how to do the same is next-level. It connects me with people all over the world and helps them connect with their own communities, too.
